    Program Overview

    The diploma in Integrated Sports Massage would provide training in sports massage integrating traditional Ayurveda , traditional Kalari treatment of Kerala, modern training and recovery methods and the modern system of Sports Medicine. The course would be conducted at Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala under the aegis of the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports, Patiala .

    Examination Criteria

    Practical and Viva

    • Sports Massage: 100 marks
    • Ayurvedic Massage:100 marks
    • Kalari Massage:100 marks
    • Theory : One Paper of three hours duration, incorporating questions on all theory subjects – 150 Marks

    Internship Schedule

      Two months each in :-

    • Sports Authority of India centre
    • Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
    • Kalari treatment centre in Thiruvananthapuram

    Admissions Criteria

    Minimum 17 years at the time of selection, Maximum – 25 years.
    Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years for inservice and ex-service candidates.

    Pass in plus two examination with science subjects. Higher qualifications are desirable.

    Theory of Kalari Massage
    Training and Recovery methods

    Observing conditioning and training for different sports disciplines
    4th month Rotation:  LNCPE / Ayurveda College/ Kalari
    Detailed study of various practical techniques
    5th month Rotation:  LNCPE / Ayurveda College/ Kalari
    Detailed study of various practical techniques
    6th month Rotation:  LNCPE / Ayurveda College/ Kalari
    Detailed study of various practical techniques

     

    Admission Tests

    • The tests would be conducted at three centres of Sports Authority of India namely, NSNIS Patiala, NSSC Bangalore and LNCPE Thiruvananthapuram. The applicant must indicate his/her choice of centre for appearing for the selection tests.
    • Academic: Percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination( Plus two or equivalent). – 100 Marks
    • Physical fitness: One tenth of the total score obtained in the AAHPER youth fitness test ( details given in the appendix) – 60 Marks
    • Bonus marks for inservice candidates, exservicemen, those who have passed Ayurveda therapists course and first position holders at State Level Kalaripayattu championships conducted by the Kerala Kalaripayattu Association – 20 Marks
    • The candidates would be ranked on the basis of the total marks obtained. There would be separate merit list for girls and boys.
    • The selected candidates would have to be certified to be medically fit for the course by the College Medical Officer.
    • Preference would be given to following candidates

    • Inservice candidates and exservicemen
    • Those who have passed Ayurveda therapists course of one year duration.
    • First position holders in the State Kalaripayattu championships conducted by the Kerala Kalaripayattu Association
