The course primarily focuses on helping the students to develop a career in sports coaching
The course equips the students to use advance skills of coaching and sports science to optimal performance and well being of the athletes.
Career Focus : The primary goal of the course is to prepare students for a career in sports coaching. This implies that the curriculum is geared toward providing the necessary knowledge and skills for individuals who aspire to become sports coaches.
Advanced Coaching Skills : The course aims to equip students with advanced coaching skills, indicating that it goes beyond basic coaching techniques and covers more specialized and in-depth aspects of coaching.
Sports Science : It emphasizes the application of sports science to optimize the performance and well-being of athletes. This includes understanding and using scientific principles in training, conditioning, and injury prevention.
Understanding Challenges : The course helps students grasp the challenges and the ever-evolving nature of the field of sports coaching. This awareness is crucial as sports coaching is continuously evolving with new techniques, technologies, and strategies.
Interdisciplinary Approach : The curriculum includes elements of various sciences that underpin sports coaching, such as physiology (the study of the body’s functions), sociology (the study of human society and behavior), psychology (the study of the human mind and behavior), and biomechanics (the study of mechanical aspects of sports).
In-Depth Understanding : The program provides students with a deep understanding of various facets of sports coaching, including social policy related to sports, sport development, and social issues within the context of sport and exercise.
Attendance : 85% compulsory attendance.

CRITERIA FOR PARA SPORT ATHLETES
Applications under the Para Sport category shall be considered only for the notified para-sport disciplines and respective classifications. Para Sport Athletes shall be evaluated based on prescribed eligibility criteria, educational marks, sports achievements, written test and a General Fitness Test adapted to the respective impairment classifications.

Admission to the Diploma in Sports Coaching course under the Para Sport category shall be restricted to the following disciplines:

Note: Provision for admission of Para-Athletes shall be made in the identified disciplines, and the number of seats allocated shall be decided based on merit and availability of eligible candidates, subject to the discretion of the Competent Authority. All other provisions such as admission process, age criteria, syllabus, fee structure, and related guidelines shall be applicable to Para Sport disciplines as per the norms prescribed for the non-para category.
