Department overview
Department of Sports Biomechanics was introduced in the year of 1983 as a part of Faculty of Sports Sciences, NSNIS Patiala. Since then, the department is working towards providing biomechanical support to national and international level athletes as well as educating coaches & athletes regarding importance of biomechanics and correct technique in sports.
Main focus
- To provide scientific support to National camper, NCOE athletes, Khelo India athletes, athletes under TOPS scheme and STC athletes.
- To identify the reason for recurrent injuries and suggest intervention in coordination with Physiotherapy and SnC department.
- To educate coaches and athletes regarding importance of understanding biomechanics in sports.
- To prepare Biomechanics education material for awareness purpose.
- To conduct research in the area of sports biomechanics.
- To provide support to various academic courses conducted by NSNIS, Patiala.
